How can i curl short hair?

ok well i have short hair the length is a little longer than my chin, and the back is a little bi shorter than that. i want to spiral curl it, i know it can be done cause ive seen it, but its ha to get the back i can find curlers to put in, i tried with a curling iron no progress. I dont want to go waste money to get it done. so anyone please help me.How can i curl short hair?
Curling rods will do the trick. You can get these at any beauty supply store or drug store.


They are the smallest you will find.

make sure you get a thin curling iron, not a big barrelled.
