Help with curling short hair?

Okay, so I have quite short hair.. just above shoulder length. Going to curl my hair for Christmas %26amp; I have tongs to do so, but they're quite thin since my hair isn't long enough to wrap enough times around a wide barrel iron...

Anyways, whenever I try to curl my hair it always seems to go all strange.. goes all sort of zig-zag instead of soft curls, any tips on how to avoid this and to generally achieve nice curls?Help with curling short hair?
The best way to create what I think is called Juliet curls, which sounds like what your after is to twist the hair tight until its a as tight as you can and then use the tongs on that, wrap it round the barrel and you will get softer curls. use your finger to pull the twists apart and that should work for you. If you try and ';flat'; curl your hair with tongs it can go a little frizzy.

Hope that helps, and it makes sense!Help with curling short hair?
use babyliss wand curlers
I'm Not Too Sure If A Diffuser Would Work.

Give It A Try Tho.

1 - To create defined, natural curls that bounce (and I mean bounce!), coat damp hair with this curl-enhancing gel.

Squeeze your desired amount into the palm of your hand and emulsify to activate the ingredients

2 - Comb through damp hair from roots to ends with a wide-tooth comb to fully saturate the hair.

3 - Then, scrunch curls into place, shaping and molding curls' tightness and definition.

4 - Anytime you use a gel, blow-dry upside down with a diffuser (if not, your hair will dry crispy) until hair's 90 percent dry. Then, let air-dry. The diffuser lets you lift hair for a shorter curl formation (translation: bouncier curls).

5 - To mold gorgeous finger waves, twist in gel piece by piece.

6 - For added definition, finish with Hairspray.
Either use curlers or get little bits of material get yr hair twist them and wrap the material around them to keep them in place , then go to sleep. Next morning u should have good curls in yr hair also use a little mousse and hairspray n u should have gd curls.
Use a spray to help with burning your hair

then curl it and leave it for a few seconds (this is why you use the anti-burning spray, so it doesn't burn while you hold it)

then just release the tongs and if that doesn't work then try crips

(they give you a zig-zag affect) i love them
